I'm an associate who has worked at my 2nd store now. My store manager says she appreciates the help we give, but is so fake about how she acts. I'm glad that Wal Mart and management get money, when "we" hourly associates start out at $6 something an hour right? I wish Wal Mart knew how to pay fairly for all the work and STRESS associates go through!

I'm an associate at a Walmart store in Southern Illinois. The thing I DO NOT like at Walmart is the points we receive when something happens in your immediate family or something happens to yourself. Whether its your sick or could be on your deathbed and get points just for that!!! Myself just recently just about a couple weeks ago had 911 called from my house and went to the hospital with chest pain and had passed about. I understand from my husband when I was able to talk to him was that there was about 12 emergency people at my house including the police! I don't understand how anyone in their right mind can give an associate a point for an emergency like this!!! To me the STRESS that the associates go through depends on the mood of the manager/managers that you have to deal with. Myself I'm very happy with the managers that I work under right now. But you know there should be a time when push comes to shove. From what I understand the manager I spoke to had to send an e-mail just to see if what happened to me will give me a point or not.
Thanks I needed the time and space to get my feelings out.

the whole points system is stupid. i had been place on new blood pressure meds and the side effects dang near paralyzed me. but yet i still got wrote up for missing days.granted i was only there a month but health problems you can not predict. so i told them to stick it. i have worked at walmart twice in my life. NEVER AGAIN. risking my life is not worth 6 dollars a hour.

If Sam Walton was still alive and running wal-mart like it was run when he was in charge of the stores there wouldn't be as much stuff going on as it has since his demise..When you stop caring about your customers and worrying about the al-mighty dollar everyone suffers. I've seen it in a lot of companies. And most of them went bank-rupt in a few years and so will wal-mart.Treating the associates like they're second or third class trash doesn't help either. But who can we the public blame. no one except ourselves for buying the cheap products that wal-mart stocks in their stores. 90% of everything they sell is imported from foreign manufacturers. Cheap prices means poor quality any way you slice it. Becauase no retailer can charge the prices that american made charges for the same product and make a profit large enough to pay for the taxes the company has to pay our big government just to stay in business. Thus the reasoning for the cheap products from foreign companies.Plus theres greed in the equation too. Also i don't think that Mr.Walton had any idea that his business would become anything like it did in the few years that he was in charge of it.I have to give him credit for what he did though. Start with one store and build it into the largest retailer in the U.S.A. And he did it in less than fifty years. But he didn't do it by being free with the money he made. Thus the reasoning behind the cheap wages and benefits paid to wal-mart associates.Every business that has ever made any money at all has to have to be bad when it comes to the employees or go broke. It's the way of things here in the u.s.a.and 95% of the rest of the world too.At least we're not controlled by China,Mexico,Japan, or another fifty or so countries in this world that would like it just fine if we didn't exist.Don't think that we got as big as we did by standing by and letting those countries run ours. Sometimes you have to take what you want to,to continue the lifestyle that we've become used to.If that means war so be it,it's part of life.

I started working for Walmart, well, as of today, it would have been two years in February of 2009. I got "terminated" today. Over a lousy 4 minutes, meal exception. I worked my ass off, day in, day out. As I am sure most of you do, or, did. My assistant manager was in tears, because she had to do this awful thing.....for a lousy "4" minutes! She said she had heard about my exception yesterday, but put it off B/C she didn't want to know about the details. This is disgusting! Meanwhile, the thieves, druggies, alkies who drink in their car on their 15, and smoke a joint, and people who just don't give a darn, keep their jobs. Many take "15"s that turn into an hour. And the Walmart "social scene" is rediculuos!! Every one is doing this one or that one. Its more of a singles club, than a "workplace." I would love to say that I would never buy anything at walmart again, but, you see, none of can really afford NOT to shop at Walmart. And, all those idiots who are stoned, drunk. whatever..... they have got our jobs! Those of us who work hard as we can, get screwed! Merry Christmas!

I have to say, and I have no idea who reads this stuff, as there are things from a year ago posted still..... My Department Manager and my Assistant Manager, are two of the best people in the world. She, my AM, had no choice but to "terminate" me over a stupid meal exception rule.....that , you know, I don't know of any other places have such a rule. But they claim it is a state law.................Walmart, you lost out. Have fun replacing me..............sounds a bit "braggy" But, they WILL miss me..............

All you need to stop boo hooin about your wages and the stress. do you realize there are people who make 10 cents a day in places. you think that wal mart slave drives maybe if you were not such a lazy person and thought every thing should be givin to you you would see that wal mart pays you for the job you do i work for walmart and make 16.00 an hour i bust my butt for 12 hours a day pulling cases. they give me a 20 min 30 min 15 min break that is just fine with me you go to work to work people not just to collect a check and if you get fired over a 4 min exception it is not the first time it has happend you ovously have a problem telling time get back from break when your supposed to dont lolly gag around and expect leanence
