We know this is not what Sam truly wanted for the company.I have worked at walmart 18 years. you know what i can walk all over wal-mart for hours and not one manager/employee will look at you or ask you if you need any help finding anything, but i can walk into k-mart and in the first 5 minutes i am there someone is asking me if i need help with anything. I WORKED FOR A COMPETITOR. I WILL JUST SAY FOR MANY YEARS. DECIDED THAT WALMART WAS THE PLACE FOR ME. A LARGE COMPANY THAT CARES FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES. I DID ALL THE RIGHT THINGS I GOT IT IN WRITING THAT THEY AGREED TO PAY MY SALARY. IT WASNT 3 WEEKS AFTER I HAD RECEIVED MY FIRST PAY CHECK I WAS BEGINNING TO WORRY ABOUT MY DICISION. I WAS TOLD A MISTAKE WAS MADE AND THEY COULD NOT MATCH MY SALARY THEY WERE VERY SORRY BUT, THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO. I HAVE HEARD HORROR STORIES OF THIS HAPPENING BEWARE!!!!!!!!!ITS TRUE IT HAPPENED TO ME....IM STUCK TRYING TO BE A GOOD EMPLOYEE AND BE OPTIMISTIC. I FIND IT HARD EVERY DAY I WORK. HOW CAN I TRUST A COMPANY THAT WOULD DO THAT TO AN EMPLOYEE THEY CHEATED ME OUT OF NEARLY 5000.00 DOLLARS A YEAR. Do not even know where to start!!! Seabrook NH store 1762---what a joke---we have a store manager(?) let us call him the Big "J" as in jackass--then our ass. store manager (?) let's call him the little "J"--they are two of the most associate UNfriendly "store managers" ???
I have ever encountered in my life--it is pretty said that when a NEW person has worked 3 shifts and wants to know if JEFF if the store manager and she is told yes---her response is BOY!!! he sure is RUDE and very UNfriendly--at least it lets us associates that have been around for years that it is NOT our imagination---the Morale in our store is sooooooo low--and unfortunately the WRONG people are getting blamed---we have assistant managers that are quitting want transfers etc. and they are the ones keeping the store going along with the associates that are willing to stick it out. UNFORTUNATELY the store manager (?) is somehow getting some kind of credit where credit is not due---wait til xmas when there will surely be a mass exodus from the store---some are actually talking of having a sick out--that would be kinda---well you decide. It is unfortunate that Kevin and Paul Busby are contacting the wrong people on just how the associates feel. Seems like they ask questions of the loooooong
time people--the ones who wouldn't say shit if they had a mouthful---they should poll associates on all shifts--but goodness if they cam in after noon unannounced they would NEVER or hardly ever find THE BIG J (jeff) or the little J (JIM)--oh goodness---well this could have been a VERY much more negative note---BUT most of us got our frustration out on the GRASSROOT survey--although I personally think that is a JOKE---Walmart should have put a place for comments---whoops on second thought they would have had to pay everyone overtime because I AM SURE alot of people would have had ALOT to comment on.

I too am a new walmart associate, and although I have never worked retail before, I have worked with some major business' in the industry and I find it so hard to believe that any of the higher ups in this company can't see where the problems in their stores lie...not with the associates but with the management!! I have never seen such a poorly run company in my life and until the uppercrust of the Walmart "family" wants to open their eyes and start cleaning house from the top down, things will only get worse!! In my store alone, I have seen co-managers quit left and right, and dept managers take pay cuts and step down if not leave all together, because of the crap they have to put up with, ie. cut employee hours, take away pay, one associate for (on average) 3-4 departments, this type of coverage is a joke and its getting worse right at the time when help is so desparately needed (christmas is around the corner), all I can do is I tell every customer that complains to me, to please call 1-800 WALMART and leave their complaints there!! And don't get me started on theft in the store...yes let's blame the associates for all the theft, not the fact that we have zero security and the public knows it!! Until you come to my house and see the plasma big screen, computers in all the rooms and lap tops too, don't accuse me of being a thief!!! I guess my only hope is that someone like Lee Scott or one of his underlings scans these sites and finally decides to open their eyes to the way out of control problems, and stop burying their heads in the sand because this is one problem that won't fix itself or go away on its own!!!

I don't really know ow this posting thing works, I just have an issue. I'm a under-paid Pharmacy Tech for the new SuperCenter in Arbutus, MD. They over work us and are not understanding of the fact that 1-2 of us don't drive (including me) and the only bus that comes by there lets you off a half mile away. Even if you get off the bus early, you'll be late by the time you actually make it inside to clock in. I have already coached for this and on that particular day I was 7 mins late. Also since we have been wrkin there since 10/1/07 and the store didn't officially open until 11/7/07, we were told that we were intitled to Holiday pay because our Pharmacy isn't open on holidays. Total lie. So of my fellow Tech were gonna walk out due to that fact and the fact that EVERY one f our checks has missing hours. I'm tired of this and I am looking for another job so I can leave them and their bs behind. Sam is rolling over by now.

I have worked for walmart for just short of one year, and I have had so many problems with the people who treat others like shit. Because i stand up for myself, they have started to lash out on me for the little things, things that i thought i was doing right and things that they clearly lied about. Stupid things like piercings and tattoos, dress code and re-shops, when i know that i am not the only one doing these things but am the only one getting into trouble for it all. Im at a d-day for doing something that i was told to do by a CSM! I hate this place...i would never recommend it for a job for the worst of people, but those who are the uppercrust are going to be stuck in that hell hole for the rest of their lives! *muah ha ha!* good.

I know customer service is important but sometimes people find it annoying when people come up to them and ask if you need help every 5 min. I mean its not bad but i think that if people want help they will ask for it.

Okay, so I work at store 410 in the Produce Dept. In February, likek all other stores, we went through our routine management change, although or former manager had been with the dept for several years. We knew when this happened, shit would hit the fan. Our Lead associate quit and we were told our hours would change. Our new lead and ass. manager are like up each others ass and shit and have messed with our schedule. I am a part time associate and had been working 4 days a week at 8 hour shifts with Friday, Saturdays and Mondays off, due to the large quanity of college students in our dept. Well, since these people have taken over, i have had to have weekly fits when the schedule comes out, not to mention the fact that I now have to wake up at 2:30am to be at work. Everyone who had previously been on a set schedule is now getting thrown around all over the place, which is useless. When we had a set scedule, we rarely ever had call ins, now we have call ins left and right. We are all fed up with our assistant managers inability to understand and realize that we had those schedules for a reason. I hate to say it, but Walmart has become the largest communist company I have ever seen or heard. All the management team have each others back and if you use the open door policy, you ARE retaliated against in one way or another. It is a big crock of shit that we associates have to put up with this shit. Maybe we will get union reps like I heard on the radio, wouldnt that be nice!!!!

I work at store 3167 in BC and i've got fed up so many time due to the fact that associates don't get the respect that they deserve.. I am an unloader and i feel we get picked on more then anyone else in the store.. I can't stand working for a company that changed their management team so often that it almost becomes second nature to try to get into their good book... The way i look at it is that "We work for less... everyday" How can anyone afford to live on wal-mart wages not to mention the degrading and humiliation that u have to go through.. The open door policy; forget it.. its useless...

So I found this blog on accident. I am an a walmart associate. I go to school work in the walmart deli and I have 3 small children. I was full time but I was dropped to part time because I was put on bed rest during my last trimestes of preg. and then silly me I took a week to voulenteer and help repair homes for those who were unable. And after being put down to part time for that the coumputer started doing our schedule. That is a joke in a half. I am lucky to get 17 hours a week and we never have the coverage we need any more. My manager makes the schedule and the HR and the computer screw it up. Open door policies are just a myth. They do not exist. My husband refuses to shop there because the quality is bad and stock is low and lets not forget about how many items get deleted. I get yelled at almost daily because walmart no longer carries what people want. Then after getting yelled at by the customers I get yelled at by the mgt because the shelves are empty and the will not accept the answer I was given "I am sorry its a wharehouse out"

Walmart is my second job, I had to leave early one night because my truck was getting repoed(husband Laid off), then we found a used car and bought it, the check engine light came on and I was 20 min. late after ensuring the car was allright to drive. I am a chashier and had very little training, I've been here for 90 days and already had a D Day for being short 132.00, then I forgot to keep a check when someone paid a walmart credit card payment. The last incident occured on a night that I was the only cashier for the entire store and had no CSM to ask how to do it because she was no where to be found.

I have worked for Wal-Mart for 4 years. This company has more secrets than the CIA. You can ask the same question to 5 managers and get different answer. They hire un-educated people to manage this company and then pressure them to treat employees bad and do things that are not ethical and sometimes illegal. After 4 year I only make 8.45 and hour. I know that employees who have just been hired are making almost as much as me. No I do not want a union I want our goverment to step up and stop these monster companies from treating the american workforce this way. Without us there would be no wal-mart. Its the foot soldier who wins the wars and its the associates who make this companies money.

Came across this blog by accident. I work for Wal-Mart in the deli. This is my second time with the company. I left the first time (11/99-03/03) due to the total incompetency of the store manager. At that time I was working on the ICS team. They had no clue as to what they were doing. I just walked out to go to my dinner break and I never went back until April 2007 and things are still the same but I just get to deal with them at a supercenter instead. I heard so many stories about Mr. Sam. I would hope that he would be appalled by the treatment that the hard working associates get on a daily basis. When you work your butt off and that bonus is in sight but you don't get one for whatever reason but the rinky dink little store a few miles away gets one and they gloat about it. They also tell you that they are a family company. Dysfunctional family. I was penalized for getting a day off to see my daughter after she had a C-section. It wasn't an authorized day off Jury Duty, Beverement, Weather a whole BS list but nothing pertaining to family.

I WORKED AT WALMART FOR 2 YEARS. I HAVE HAD HOURS TAKEN OUT OF MY CHECK, I HAVE HAD MY OVERTIME CUT OUT. 13 HOURS OF OVERTIME, THEY TOOK 10 OF IT AWAY.

I WAS TOLD I WOULD NEVER GET A WEEKEND OFF. ON MY BIRTHDAY, ALL MY FRIENDS GOT APPROVED TO GET OFF BUT ME.

I GOT A COUNTERFEIT $100 BILL WHEN I CASHED MY CHECK THERE. THEY TOLD ME THAT WAS THE CHANCE I TOOK WHEN I CASH MY CHECK THERE. THEY NEVER DID ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

THE STANDARD IS THROWING 60 CASES OF FREIGHT AN HOUR. I THROW BETWEEN 120 AND 150, TO BE RUSHED TO GO GET DONE AND HELP EVERYONE ELSE THAT WON'T PULL THEIR WEIGHT.

THE MANAGERS SAT THERE FOR 6 MONTHS AND NEVER SAID ANYTHING TO THE PEOPLE WHO WOULDN'T WORK. THEIR LAST NIGHT AS MANAGERS THEY PULLED A WHOLE BUNCH OF PEOPLE IN THE OFFICE AND WROTE THEM UP.

A FRIEND AND I WENT TO THE STORE MANAGER ABOUT SOME ISSUES WITH THE NIGHT MANAGERS. CONFIDENTIALITY WAS BROKE AND HE TOLD HER EVERYTHING WE SAID, TO GET PULLED IN THE OFFICE BY HER THE NEXT DAY.

THEY WOULDN'T QUALIFY ANYONE ELSE ON THE FORKLIFTS AND EQUIPMENT, SO I HAD TO BE PULLED FROM JOB ALL NIGHT TO GO MOVE STUFF.

EVERYONE GOT TO DRESS UP FOR HALLOWEEN, BUT I COULDN'T WEAR A PRISONER OF WAR SHIRT ON VETS DAY, BEING A VET MYSELF.

IF I MISSED A DAY, IT'S AN ABSENCE. BUT ALL THE TIME I CAME IN FOR STAR AND INVENTORY ON MY DAYS OFF NEVER COUNTED FOR ANYTHING.

I HAD TO GO PUSH CARTS AT NIGHT, IN THE RAIN DURING THE WINTER. I GOT pneumonia AND WENT TO THE HOSPITAL. MY DAYS WERE STILL COUNTED AGAINST ME EVEN THOUGH MY MADE ME PUSH CARTS IN THE RAIN.

WE LOST $60,000 IN LIQUOR INVENTORY ONE YEAR AND REFUSE TO PUT IT BEHIND A CUSTOMER SERVICE AREA WHERE YOU HAVE TO SHOW ID TO GET LIQUOR. THEY SAID IT WOULD BE AN INCONVENIENCE, YET I HAVE TO WAIT IN THE ONLY LINE THAT YOU CAN BUY TOBACCO.

THEY TRIED TO WRITE ME UP FOR LEAVING WORK EARLY, WHEN IT WAS A DAY I VOLUNTEERED TO COME IN AND HELP OUT.

I ALWAYS GOT EXCEED THE STANDARDS ON ALL MY EVALUATIONS, AND ON THE LAST ONE THEY GAVE ME JUST MEETS TO SAVE MONEY.

THEY GAVE ME AN ABSENCE FOR A DAY I DIDN'T EVEN MISS, AND TRIED TO WRITE ME UP FOR IT.

THE DEAD LOBSTERS FLOATING IN THE TANK BY THE SEA FOOD RARELY GETS CLEANED OUT.

I HAD NO ROOM TO STORE PALLETS, YET THE VENDORS STUFF IS ALWAYS ALL OVER THE BACK ROOM.

WHEN THEY GET TOO MANY PIZZAS, THEY MAKE THE FREEZERS GO DOWN, THEN THEY CLAIM INSURANCE AND GET THEIR MONEY BACK FOR PIZZAS IN THE TRASH.

THE SALAD DRESSINGS AND DRY GROCERY NEVER GET ROTATED, SO THERE IS ALOT OF OUT OF DATE STUFF BEHIND THE NEW FREIGHT THAT IS STOCKED.

YOU ALWAYS SEEM TO NOTICE AFTER HALLOWEEN, THE HALLOWEEN CEREAL SITS ON THE SHELF ALMOST ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL CHRISTMAS.

WALMART HAS CHANGED SO MUCH IN THE PAST FEW YEARS, AND IT'S NOT GETTING ANY BETTER. MOST OF THE WALMARTS HONESTLY DON'T CARE ANYMORE, AS LONG AS THEY ARE MAKING MONEY.

OH, AND THE LONGER YOU HAVE BEEN THERE AND THE MORE MONEY YOU MAKE, IT'S EASIER TO LOSE YOUR JOB SO THEY CAN CUT OUT THE HIGHER WAGES AND SAVE MONEY. AND IF THEY CAN'T FIND A REASON TO FIRE YOU, THEY TREAT YOU LIKE CRAP SO THAT YOU WILL QUIT.

ALOT OF THE STORES ARE NOW FALLING UNDER A MARKET TEAM, SO THE CORPORATE OFFICE DOESN'T KNOW ABOUT MOST OF THE REALLY BIG PROBLEMS. THE MARKET TEAM COVERS IT UP.

i work for store 2631 in livonia michigan and let me tell you......you havent been a vitim of the unfairness that we get treated on a daily basis until you become an employee up there. i am a overnight stocker and we get times for everything we do. as soon as we get there, they never have enough pricing guns and they make us go find them, on top of out unloaders mostly never gets done with the truck until about midnight, so some depts dont even have work to do until then. then the slower workers with a couple hours of work always have help, but the hard workers with over 10 hours of work is always by themselves, and yes, they do expect you to work all the freight no matter what. then you have managers who actually stands in your aisle or dept and watch you put up your freight. and they always can do something faster then you.......we have one manager that price slow as hell....lol. and dont call reginal office and complain.......i guarantee the next time you come to work you will be in the office getting in trouble for some reason....i know....it has happened to me......if the economy wasnt so bad i wouldve quit a long time ago........i feel sorry for anyone who goes thru the beating we go thru
